While the iPhone 18 Pro looks similar to last year’s model, the internals are a different story. The new A20 Pro processor with 32 Neural Engine cores will go a long way helping with on-device AI tasks—but you might not feel those differences all the time.
The new updates to battery life and charging, however, will make an actual difference in daily use on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple is promising the best battery life on an iPhone yet, and is finally supporting faster wired charging.

According to Apple, the regular sized iPhone 18 Pro will have the same battery life as the outgoing, larger iPhone 17 Pro Max model, which is quite a big deal. Apple is combining the efficiency gains in the A20 Pro chip with new battery technology to deliver this large leap in battery life.
You will get 45 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and 36 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro model. The iPhone 18 Pro will last 24 hours per charge, while the 18 Pro Max can go up to 30 hours.
According to Apple, this is based on tests performed with Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with a 60W max charging speed. Wired fast charging is also supported with 60W-capable USB-C cables and USB PD 3.1 adapters that support Adjustable Voltage Supply.
Faster wired charging finally comes to the iPhone
The world of Android flagships is filled with quick-charging smartphones, and some of that clout will now come over to the iPhone as well. A quick five-minute wired charge will give you up to six hours of video playback, and more importantly, you get 50% charging in just 15 minutes. Even wireless charging is faster, with 50% charging in around 30 minutes.
