Google is no longer selling the Pixel Tablet and it appears to have been discontinued everywhere. The disappointing big-screened device can no longer be purchased, unless you find an obscure retailer looking to rid itself of remaining inventory.
First introduced in 2023 as a tablet-with-dock combo device that could be both smart home display and in-hand slate, the Pixel Tablet was about as mid as a device can be. It launched with a $499 price because of the included dock, yet it was nowhere near that level of device.
The display was low-end, the software experience was mostly fine, and performance was, again, pretty mid. This should have been a $299 tablet without a dock, but that Pixel name attempted to carry a lot of weight into pricing.
Google eventually sold the device without a dock for $399, which made it somewhat appealing. However, there were companies like Lenovo making gaming-level tablets at the same price that had specs worth $500.
The Pixel Tablet was also not very good as a smart home device, so there’s that debacle. Oh, the speaker in the dock was really bad too.
All that said, you can no longer buy the Pixel Tablet. Google removed it from the Google Store, but there are still some accessories left (here) if you need any.
To those of you who own a Pixel Tablet, you will still get updates into 2028, so it’s not like Google has cut you off or anything.
Will we ever get another Google-made tablet? It’s probably OK if we don’t.
