TCL introduced its QM8L lineup earlier this year, and the 65-inch model has already dropped to $1,497.99 from its $2,499.99 launch price, saving you $1,000. This 2026 TV brings some of the company’s higher-end display technology to a model that sits just below its flagship range. The larger 85- and 98-inch models are also heavily discounted, but a 65-inch TV should be an ideal fit for most living rooms.

The screen itself has TCL’s slim “Zero Border” bezel, giving it a clean, minimalist look, but brightness is its more defining strength—PCMag measured the 65QM8L at 3,504 nits, below TCL’s advertised peak of 6,000 nits, but still bright enough to earn the television the publication’s first Lab Award for the brightest television it had tested. That level of brightness should help high-dynamic-range highlights stand out and keep the picture visible in a sunlit room, an area where Mini-LED televisions generally have an advantage over OLED models. (You can learn more in our guide to the differences between OLED and QLED displays.) TCL pairs that brightness with up to 4,000 local dimming zones and Halo Control, which limits the glow around bright objects and bring the contrast closer to OLED. CNET was similarly impressed, giving the QM8L an 8.8 out of 10 and naming it the best television its reviewer had tested in 2026.

Gaming support is equally comprehensive, with a native 144Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate, and four HDMI 2.1 ports capable of accepting 4K video at 144Hz. Beyond gaming, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ cover movies and streaming, while Google TV brings together your apps and adds Gemini voice controls. As for audio, its Bang & Olufsen audio system works with Dolby Atmos and produces better sound than many built-in TV speakers. While it cannot give you the deep bass or directional effects of a dedicated surround-sound system, it may still be enough for someone who wants to avoid adding a soundbar immediately.
