PlayStation and Sony Pictures are teaming up to make Bloodborne fans’ dreams come true with an R-rated movie. The news sent shockwaves through the crowd at CinemaCon 2026 during Sony’s special presentation on April 13. President of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Group Sanford Panitch, told attendees that the rumors about a film based on the wildly popular Bloodborne gaming franchise were true. And he promised that this film will not skimp on the gore, remaining true to the spirit of the Bloodborne world.
For those who are not quite familiar, Bloodborne follows a traveler who goes to a gothic city full of nightmarish creatures. Obviously, video game adaptations are all the rage right now with the success of shows like The Last of Us to the money making The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
It’s a smart move for Sony, which is also working on a Helldivers movie starring Jason Momoa. We don’t have any more details about the Bloodborne film at this time, but we cannot wait to see things unfold.
