Canton Network and DTCC are bringing Wall Street closer to blockchain, with $30 trillion in eligible securities now available for tokenization. The launch puts tokenized stocks, exchange-traded funds, and U.S. Treasuries within reach of institutional investors through blockchain infrastructure.
This marks a significant step for real-world asset tokenization. DTCC, which sits at the heart of U.S. securities markets, is connecting traditional financial assets with digital infrastructure while retaining existing custody arrangements and investor protections.
Twenty financial firms have signed up to access the service, including JPMorgan, Citi and Morgan Stanley.

The DTCC tokenization service allows eligible participants to create digital representations of securities held at The Depository Trust Company. Registered wallets can transfer these representations around the clock, opening the door to more flexible collateral management and digital asset settlement. The securities remain within DTCC’s custody framework, while their tokenized representations can move through approved blockchain infrastructure.
Canton Network gets a meaningful institutional milestone. The network was designed to support financial applications that need privacy and interoperability, making it relevant to institutions that cannot simply put every transaction on a fully transparent public blockchain.
DTCC’s launch brings those requirements into a live service, although its initial scope remains limited to eligible securities and registered participants.

Can Bitcoin Layer 2 Networks Capture the Next Tokenization Wave?
Canton Network’s progress shows a much larger opportunity: financial assets are becoming increasingly compatible with blockchain infrastructure, but the industry still needs networks capable of handling transactions quickly and affordably.
Bitcoin has the strongest brand and one of the most established security models in crypto. Its base layer, however, was never designed to provide the same high-throughput execution environment as modern smart-contract networks.
That creates an opening for Bitcoin Layer 2 projects seeking to combine Bitcoin’s monetary foundation with faster transactions and more flexible applications.

Bitcoin Hyper is one project pursuing that approach. Its architecture uses the Solana Virtual Machine to support high-throughput execution and near-instant transaction finality, while its design includes mechanisms for verifying Bitcoin activity and periodically committing Layer 2 state to Bitcoin’s base layer.
The ambition is straightforward: make Bitcoin more useful for payments, decentralized finance, and potentially tokenized assets without abandoning its underlying network.
Solana has demonstrated how fast blockchain execution can feel when transactions settle in fractions of a second. Bitcoin Hyper developers want to bring a similarly responsive experience to Bitcoin-based applications, potentially opening the door to financial products that would otherwise be impractical on the base layer.
For tokenization, that could eventually mean faster transfers, programmable collateral and markets that operate beyond traditional trading hours.
Bitcoin Hyper is drawing attention as its presale approaches the November 26 launch, having raised more than $33.2 million with tokens priced at just $0.0137 each. The project also offers staking rewards of up to 35% APY. With the presale window narrowing and the planned launch approaching, we have less time to enter at the current advertised price before the next stage.

The Race to Bring Real-World Assets On-Chain Led by Canton Network and DTCC
Canton Network and DTCC are showing how established financial infrastructure can bring tokenization into real-world workflows. Bitcoin Layer 2 developers are tackling a different challenge: making Bitcoin more practical for applications that need speed, low transaction costs, and programmable execution.
Those approaches could eventually intersect if tokenized assets expand across multiple blockchain ecosystems. Institutions may prioritize privacy and compliance, while public networks compete to provide liquidity, settlement, and financial applications.
For Bitcoin, the opportunity extends beyond holding value. A faster execution layer could help connect its established monetary network with a growing market for digital assets.
The challenge is preserving meaningful security guarantees while adding speed and functionality. Bitcoin’s base layer remains the foundation, but its next chapter could depend partly on what developers successfully build above it.
If tokenization becomes a defining feature of financial markets, the networks that combine usable transaction speeds with credible security and interoperability could have a much larger role to play.
