We all know what AMC Theaters was doing when it released its gaping sandworm popcorn bucket for Dune: Part II. We all know. Just like we all know what the cinema chain is doing with its new line of collectibles for the trilogy’s third film. This time AMC is giving the hungry and horny alike even more of what they crave: both more thumping and more holes.
Denis Villeneuve’s third and final Dune film is getting three different popcorn buckets just from AMC Theaters alone. The first of the newly announced collectibles is an elegant recreation of a Spacing Guild Navigator ship. It’s really nice, the kind of thing you can display at home without a worry about how guests might react. The other two are…not that. I definitely wouldn’t use the word “elegant” to describe those two.
The first features the top half of a sandworm sticking faaaar out of the sand. Its mouth, featuring the creature’s signature ring of long teeth, is also wide open. That’s so you can get your hand—and your hand alone—inside to grab popcorn. But the real highlight/selling point for certain customers is that it also features a small working thumper so that the entire bucket vibrates. Yeah, it….it vibrates. And again, we all know why.
If you’d like to share your snack with someone else, though, forget the bucket with just one hole. AMC has truly doubled-down on its viral Dune: Part Two container for Part Three. The third collectible features not one but TWO sandworms, each with their own hole.
Just two holes. Next to each other. So you can enjoy the container in the dark.
You know, when you see the hands in it it doesn’t seem so bad. SO do us a favor, we all know what AMC Theaters is doing with these buckets. But we don’t want to know what you plan to do with yours if it involves anything besides eating popcorn.
