San Diego Comic-Con 2026 kicked off on July 23 with a lot of news and surprises. From an excellent Dungeon Crawler Carl casting announcement to our first look at Avatar: Seven Havens, it was a great day. And, when it comes to surprises, Johnny Depp pulled a fast one on fans at the Ebenezer office activation when he arrived in full Scrooge makeup and costuming. His arrival also came with a fresh trailer for Ebenezer, an upcoming film that will dive deeper into this infamous miser’s life.
The clip focuses a lot on his previous roles as quirky characters like Edward Scissorhands, Jack Sparrow, and the Mad Hatter. Now, he is back once again as Ebenezer Scrooge to tell this famed Christmas story once again. The clip shows him being funny, perhaps more humorous than we’ve seen a depiction of this character again.
Maybe we will dive more into his life and background to get a full picture of why he’s such a miserable jerk. If nothing else, it will be fun to simply watch him hate everything and everyone…well, almost everything. He does love money and, based on the Ebenezer trailer, he also likes raising his funky eyebrows.

Ebenezer will arrive in theaters just before the holiday season on November 13.
