Title

The title for the fourth season of the Interview with the Vampire franchise is Queen of the Damned, named for Anne Rice’s third installment of her long-running Vampire Chronicles series, which began in 1976. The title was officially confirmed via a special trailer released after The Vampire Lestat concluded, which you can view below.

The plot of Queen of the Damned sees Akasha (Sheila Atim) a 6,000-year-old vampire and first of the undead race, arise from a centuries-long sleep. She arrives with a plan to unleash a genocidal rage against the males of the human race. Akasha awakens thanks to the music of the Vampire Lestat, whom she decides will be her new prince consort. But her many vampire children oppose her, leading to some deadly confrontations. The trailer released at Comic-Con suggests that Akasha will cause a global uprising among women. And the final moments of The Vampire Lestat suggest she will leave much destruction in her wake.

Behind the Scenes

Mark Johnson (who oversees AMC’s entire Anne Rice Immortal Universe) is the executive producer for The Queen of the Damned. For this season, The Vampire Lestat writer and producer Hannah Moscovitch takes over as showrunner from Rolin Jones, who ran the first three seasons and remains involved as an executive producer. Mark Taylor, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice also serve as executive producers.

Queen of the Damned Cast

Shelia Atim is starring as the titular Queen of the Damned Akasha, and she’s reprising her brief role from The Vampire Lestat. Also returning are Sam Reid as Lestat, Jacob Anderson as Louis, Assad Zaman as Armand, and Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy. Also probably returning are Jennifer Ehle as Gabriella, and Christopher Heyerdahl as Marius, Akasha’s former keeper. Although technically, the trailer confirmed no one except for Sheila Atim so far. If the show follows the book by Anne Rice to any degree of faithfulness, we should hear of several new cast members as well.

Queen of the Damned Release Date

The Queen of the Damned series currently has no release date on AMC and AMC+. However, there tends to be about two years between seasons for Interview with the Vampire. We’d love if it came out earlier, but right now, one can assume it’ll arrive sometime in 2028, probably during the summer.

You can currently stream all seasons of Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat on AMC+.
