In the penultimate episode of Invincible season four, we witnessed a major battle that left so many of our main characters scarred, broken, or otherwise damaged. With that in mind, fans are no doubt steeling themselves for what lies in wait for them in Invincible season four’s finale. But, luckily, as we see in Nerdist‘s exclusive clip from Invincible season four’s final episode, it’s not all darkness and doom. It’s hard to believe the loveliness of this clip, juxtaposed against the horrifying violence we witnessed in Invincible episode seven’s big battle. There, we saw the Coalition’s strike team battle Viltrumites and Thragg in a deadly showdown that did not end well for any of Invincible‘s complicated heroes. Among the losses was Thaedus, the leader of the Coalition of Planets. And in the wake of this death, everyone’s favorite alien, Allen, was appointed as temporary leader in his stead. But, in the aftermath, Invincible wants its fans to have a little comfort among all that hurt. In our exclusive scene from Invincible season four’s finale, we get to enjoy a sweet, comforting moment between Allen and Telia, as Allen prepares to step into his new role in the aftermath of all the bloodshed.
The pair is so sweet, no one would know Invincible‘s heartbreaking ways if they only saw this scene. But, as we mentioned, that’s the beauty of the series. It knows how to layer its many tones to achieve the maximum impact on its viewers.
Even though Allen could only assume this role after a tragedy, we’re proud of him for stepping up. Allen the Alien is one of Invincible‘s most beloved characters, after all, and our exclusive clip from Invincible season four’s season finale reminds us why. What could be more adorably relatable than suddenly feeling VERY freaked out about the massive responsibility you’re about to take on… Or forgetting you needed to memorize a speech?
We know this moment of relative calm definitely can’t last in Invincible season four’s final episode. But we’re glad to touch it, if only for a moment.
