Pringles is taking its famous slogan, “Once you pop, you can’t stop,” to a whole new level this Halloween. The snack brand launched its sweepstakes, offering one fan a custom cremation urn. The winner will also receive $28,080 in cash to fund their potato chip obsession.
The prize package totals $28,580, including the $500 urn. The cash equals approximately 10,400 cans of Pringles over 200 years. That calculation assumes each can costs $2.70 and the winner purchases one weekly.

Although the promotion puts a humorous spin on mortality, it honors a real piece of Pringles history. Fredric J. Baur designed the brand’s signature cylindrical packaging. He was so proud of his creation that he requested burial in a Pringles can. After his death in 2008, his family honored his wishes. They placed some of his cremated remains inside a Pringles Original container.
Now, Pringles is giving another superfan the chance to embrace this unusual legacy. The company partnered with funeral director Dan the Funeral Man for a promotional video. The video adds another layer of dark humor to the Halloween campaign.
Nerdist’s Take: We Do Not Wish to Participate in This Strange Pringles Urn Giveaway, But Good Luck to the Winner
Fans can enter by visiting OnceYouDrop.com and signing a digital “Will and Taste-ament.” The pledge declares their devotion to the stackable snack. While I can appreciate the sentiment behind the giveaway, it feels like you are signing your life away. I wouldn’t be surprised if the winner was to suddenly “disappear.” Fortunately, the document is not legally binding. Participants can enter without promising to spend eternity inside a Pringles can, or so they say.
For one lucky chip enthusiast, this giveaway offers an unusual way to prove their love for Pringles. Winners will be selected on October 23, and will disappear on the 24. Just kidding! If you are a die-hard Pringles lover, you might as well participate. After all, some snack obsessions never die.
