Solana (SOL) Surges 21% Weekly Despite Yearly Decline as ETF Inflows Accelerate Trader Edge | usagoldmines.com

Key Highlights

  • SOL reaches $117 following a 21% weekly surge but sits 44% lower than its price from one year ago.
  • A 152% increase would be required for SOL to reach its $295 peak recorded in January 2025.
  • Network fees have plummeted 97%, declining from $33 million daily to approximately $1 million.
  • U.S. Solana spot ETFs attracted $28.87 million in net inflows on September 22, bringing cumulative inflows to $1.47 billion.
  • Technical analysts track the $119-$121 resistance band as the Alpenglow network upgrade approaches on September 28.

Solana currently trades at $116.87 following a sharp 21% rally across the past seven days. Despite this recent strength, the digital asset remains down 44% compared to its value twelve months earlier. Recovering to its peak of $295—reached in January 2025—would require an additional 152% advance from current levels.

That January high coincided with a memecoin trading frenzy, partially fueled by the launch of the TRUMP token. Network fees reached $33 million per day during that period. Current daily fees hover around $1 million, representing a 97% decline.

The circulating supply of Solana has expanded since that earlier peak. Approximately 587 million SOL tokens are now in circulation. A return to $295 per token would produce a network valuation approaching $173 billion, surpassing the previous high of roughly $140 billion.

Emerging Demand Channels Show Limited Scale

One avenue for new buying pressure comes from institutional investment vehicles. U.S.-listed spot Solana ETFs managed approximately $1.42 billion in assets as of September 17, following twelve consecutive weeks of positive flows.

Data from SoSoValue indicates that these funds recorded $28.87 million in net inflows on September 22 alone. This pushed total cumulative inflows to $1.47 billion, with aggregate net assets reaching $1.77 billion.

Tokenized equities represent another demand driver. Solana hosts roughly $465 million worth of these instruments, leading all competing blockchains. The SEC provided trading platforms with a five-year exemption for this sector on September 17.

Market analyst SatoshiOwl highlighted a recent price action that aligned with his prediction. He stated: “Called it. Yesterday I said $SOL looked ready for a pullback into the $113–114 zone before the next leg up. And that’s EXACTLY what happened. #SOL just wicked straight into that area and bounced.” He mentioned monitoring $120 initially, followed by $124 if current support levels maintain.

Key Price Barriers and Technical Indicators

Solana encounters resistance in the $119 to $121 range. Liquidation data from CoinGlass reveals concentrated leverage positions between $116.80 and $117.30, near the present trading level.

A successful push above $120 could trigger cascading liquidations toward the $121 to $123 zone, based on heatmap analysis. Conversely, a decline beneath $110 would deteriorate the near-term technical picture.

Analyst Crypto Patel observed that SOL has already doubled from his previous accumulation band of $60 to $67, climbing past $120 before retracing to present levels. He maintained his extended-term projection of $500 to $1,000 despite the recent pullback, while acknowledging potential for a medium-term decline toward $50.

The daily Relative Strength Index hovers near 70, indicating the asset may be reaching overbought territory following its swift ascent. Analyst Redlion characterized the setup as favorable while buyers protect the $110 to $111 support area.

Redlion noted that a decisive breakout above $121 could unlock movement toward $123 or beyond. He cautioned that a retreat below $110 would shift sentiment bearish once more.

All major moving averages remain positioned below the current spot price. The 20-day exponential moving average stands at $106.76, the 50-day at $97.82, the 100-day at $91.22, and the 200-day at $93.37.

The MACD indicator shows a value of 5.49, above its signal line of 4.31, generating a positive histogram reading of 1.19. Futures trading volume declined 19.11% to $9.78 billion, while open interest contracted 1.41% to $7.13 billion.

The network’s Alpenglow upgrade is set for September 28 and targets reducing transaction settlement times to approximately 150 milliseconds. For continued upside momentum, SOL must close above $124—matching its December 31, 2025 price—before challenging the $149 to $150 resistance zone from January 2026.
