In the latest cancellation news, Prime Video has knocked down Spider-Noir’s web after only one season. The 1930s era superhero drama starred Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly aka The Spider and gained critical praise, including winning five Emmy Awards. But that wasn’t enough for the show to swing a second season, unfortunately. Spider-Noir dropped all eight of its episodes in both color as well as black and white back in May 2026.

One person who is not super upset about the Spider-Noir cancellation news is Nicolas Cage himself. He gave a short statement to Deadline saying that one season was perfect, actually.
“For me, one season is perfect, having said what I wanted to say with this dangerous, innovative, pop-art Spider-Man,” Cage said. “Onwards, upwards, inwards.”
He’s a man who is always on the move, and probably has five new projects in the works that we don’t even know about yet. That’s how life is when you’re Nicolas Cage. Apparently, the high costs of producing the series coupled with the show quickly falling out of Prime Video’s top ten list factored into the decision. Prime saying that something is too costly is kinda rich coming from them, honestly, but that’s a whole other post.
Now, we guess we will have to wait for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to hit theaters in June 2027 to get our next dose of Spidey action. Or, if you’re a comic book fan, you can check out this collection of comics about this Spider guy’s epic life.
