Mickey Mouse and the NFL, two ubiquitous American institutions, are teaming up for next year’s Big Game. Super Bowl LXI was already set to air on Disney-owned ABC, and now the championship game will also live stream on Disney+.
Disney, ESPN, and the NFL have announced the Mouse House’s streaming service will offer football yet another way to watch next year’s NFL title game. Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, February 14, 2027 is set to serve as ESPN’s first-ever Super Bowl production, which will now air on both ABC and Disney+. The streaming site will air the same ESPN on ABC production that will air on the network. (What do we mean ESPN on ABC? Disney owns both networks and, twenty years ago, brought its sports coverage under a single combined banner.)
Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and Laura Rutledge will handle the game’s English broadcast. ESPN Deportes will air the game in Spanish. Disney+ subscribers will be able to choose their language preference.
Disney+ won’t be trying to pull off its football simulcast for the first time during the league’s championship game, though. It will have a couple test runs during the regular season when it live streams two ESPN Monday Night Football games. The first will take place during Week 7 in the NFL when the Dallas Cowboys head to Philadelphia to play the Eagles on Monday, Oct. 26. Disney, ESPN, and the NFL has not yet announced the second Disney+ broadcast.
This news probably won’t matter much to North American football fans, but it could help grow the audience outside of it. Disney+ will stream ESPN’s Super Bowl in more than 55 international markets. That includes Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
That’s right world, we’re sending you both the NFL and Mickey Mouse together. Because those two American institutions apparently weren’t ubiquitous enough.
