The Witcher 4 or The Witcher IV is finally more than just a code-name and a fun of circulating buzz. It’s here, and it’s arrived enforce. Yes, The Witcher 4 announced itself to the world with a nearly six-minute trailer. And the biggest (and best) surprise of all. This trailer reveals something very exciting about The Witcher 4—this upcoming game features Ciri, Geralt of Rivia’s adopted daughter, as its playable protagonist. We should have seen this plot twist coming, but we admit, we weren’t expecting it. But now that it’s here, we absolutely love the idea. Check out Ciri in all her glory in this The Witcher 4 trailer, and then read on to learn all about what’s in store in the game.
Ciri is here and she is fierce in this The Witcher 4 trailer. Watch as she takes on a witch contract to help a remote village that’s been terrorized by a monster for generations. The monster wants a ritual sacrifice but we’ll just have to see what Ciri has to say about that. She is her father’s daughter, after all. In this trailer, you get a sense of Ciri’s new powers and tools, which include a chain and advanced magic powers. Of course, the life of a witcher is not always an easy one. And sometimes, those you try to protect are equally monstrous as the monsters you’re trying to protect them from. It’s a rough world out there in The Witcher 4‘s trailer. In fact, it’s downright brutal. but we bet Ciri can handle it.
A new The Witcher game has been a long time coming. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most beloved games ever. But that was first released almost a decade ago. So it’s high time for a new The Witcher game to step into the ring. Of course, we’ve had Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation come to life during this period. But for those who are game fans first, this will be a welcome and exciting announcement. And, of course, we all love a new saga. Ciri becoming the games’ new hero just makes a lot of sense and keeps things fresh and fun in the world of The Witcher. It sounds like Ciri will have a The Witcher trilogy of her own that starts with The Witcher 4… Maybe she can adopt a daughter along the way for games 7, 8, and 9.
Sebastian Kalemba, The Witcher 4‘s Game Director, shared, “We’re kicking off a brand-new Witcher saga, this time with Ciri as the heart of the story! It feels so good to finally be able to say those words — for the longest time we knew that we wanted Ciri to be the protagonist of The Witcher IV; it just felt natural to us and we believe that Ciri deserves it. In this game, we want to explore what it means to truly become a witcher by following Ciri on her Path. This trailer is a taste of both that, and just how dark and grounded the world of The Witcher can be.”
A release additionally shares that “The Witcher IV is being developed using customized Unreal Engine 5 technology; the cinematic trailer is pre-rendered in a custom build of Unreal Engine 5 on an unannounced NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU.” It certainly looks good. And we feel every second of the gaming experience that The Witcher 4 will no doubt offer us upon its release.
Ultimately, The Witcher 4 is a single-player, open-world RPG from CD PROJEKT RED. It will be “Powered by Unreal Engine 5” and “aims to be the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher game to date.” We can hardly wait to get to running around the intense fantasy world.
Will Geralt Be in The Witcher 4?
Not to worry, though, Geralt fans. The Witcher 4 hasn’t completely forgotten about Geralt, by any means. Kalemba reveals, “[Geralt’s] so important for us and for Ciri, and he’s definitely going to appear in the game,” Kalemba said. “I can’t tell you more, but I think the promise is enough. But we believe that this new journey, this new saga, this new trilogy is definitely for her.”
Additionally, yes, that is Geralt’s voice in The Witcher 4‘s first trailer. He’s played by Doug Cockle. CD Projekt confirmed to IGN: “Geralt will appear in the game, but we don’t want to spoil his role precisely. You’ll have to wait to learn more for now.”
When Will The Witcher 4 Game Release?
As of now, The Witcher 4 does not yet have a release date.
