Woot has the Fitbit Google Ace LTE down to $113.47, a substantial drop from its $179.95 list price and, according to price trackers, the lowest price the watch has reached so far. The same watch is currently $133.11 on Amazon, making Woot’s offer worth considering if you’re shopping for a smartwatch for a child between ages 7 and 11. That said, Woot lists it as an Open-Box deal—meaning while the packaging was previously opened (maybe for display or testing), the unit itself is new. Prime members also get free shipping (while everyone else pays $6), though it’s limited to the lower 48 states.
The smartwatch is sturdy and relatively easy for kids to navigate, while taking a playful approach with animated characters, games, and movement challenges built into the experience. The games are linked to activity goals—depending on the game, they’ll need to hit a movement target every five to 10 minutes before they can continue, giving them a reason to get up and move throughout the day while they’re using the watch. Beyond the games, the Ace LTE covers the basics you’d expect from a connected kids’ watch, including calls, texts, GPS location tracking, and parental controls through the Fitbit Ace app, which works with both iPhones and Android.
There are a few limitations to keep in mind, including the lack of music and sleep-tracking apps. This PCMag review also found that the watch can occasionally feel sluggish when switching between features—but more importantly, the Ace LTE requires a $9.99-per-month Ace Pass for LTE connectivity, GPS location tracking, and access to its games. With the subscription, kids can use the watch to send and receive calls and texts, while parents can check their location, giving it a practical purpose beyond activity tracking. Without the Ace Pass, however, the watch is essentially limited to basic movement and step tracking, which makes spending extra for this model harder to justify when a simpler Fitbit Ace 3 can cover that territory for less.
