TLDR:
- TRON surpassed 400 million total accounts on August 23, 2026, per TRON DAO’s announcement.
- USDT balances on TRON exceeded $94 billion, reinforcing its role in stablecoin settlement.
- TRON processed over 15.2 billion transactions with nearly $29 trillion in transfer volume.
- Tron Inc. expanded its TRX treasury to more than 711.5 million tokens this week.
TRON blockchain reaches 400 million accounts, a milestone confirmed by TRON DAO on August 25, 2026. The figure includes wallets and active smart contracts spread across the network.
The achievement follows more than 15 billion transactions and nearly $30 trillion in cumulative transfer volume. Low fees and fast stablecoin transfers, including USDT balances above $94 billion, continue supporting adoption across emerging markets.
TRON founder Justin Sun described the growth from zero to 400 million users in just over eight years as a notable step for the ecosystem.
Account Growth Accelerates Past Earlier Milestones
TRON’s genesis block launched on June 25, 2018, marking the start of the network’s account expansion. The blockchain needed four years to reach its first 100 million accounts.
From there, growth sped up considerably. TRON crossed 200 million accounts on December 7, 2023, roughly 17 months after the first milestone, and then doubled that figure in under three years.
The network surpassed 300 million accounts on April 12, 2025, before crossing 400 million on August 23, 2026. Analytics platform Lookonchain compared this pace to older networks in a recent post, writing that TRON reached the mark “much faster than Bitcoin and Ethereum,” noting Bitcoin needed 9.4 years and Ethereum took over 10 years to reach the same figure.
Justin Sun reacted to the milestone on social media, writing, “From zero to 400M users in just over 8 years. Incredible to see how quickly the TRON ecosystem has grown.”
TRON DAO framed the growth as a reflection of steady demand for accessible blockchain infrastructure, pointing to payments, stablecoins, and tokenized assets as core drivers behind the expansion.
Stablecoin Transfers And Network Activity Drive Usage
USDT balances on TRON have climbed past $94 billion, making stablecoin transfers one of the network’s primary use cases.
Fast settlement times and low transaction costs have made the chain a preferred option for cross-border payments. This activity has been especially pronounced in regions with growing demand for digital dollar access.
TRON has processed more than 15.2 billion transactions to date, with total transfer volume surpassing $29 trillion. These numbers position the network as a major settlement layer for digital asset movement.
High throughput combined with deep liquidity has allowed TRON to support an expanding range of on-chain financial activity beyond simple transfers.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Sun said, “Reaching 400 million accounts is a meaningful milestone for the TRON ecosystem and a reflection of the growing demand for accessible blockchain infrastructure.”
He added that TRON remains focused on building a network that is “efficient, accessible, and capable of supporting the next generation of blockchain use cases.”
Institutional Adoption And Treasury Holdings Expand
TRON’s institutional presence has grown alongside its user base. The network was recently included in the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index, which recognized TRON among leading protocols based on utility, liquidity, and network activity. This inclusion places TRON alongside other major blockchains tracked by institutional benchmarks.
Partnerships with Anchorage Digital, Securitize, and Bitnomial have widened institutional access to the TRON ecosystem in recent months.
These collaborations span custody, tokenization, and derivatives infrastructure. Together, they support a broader range of regulated entry points into the network for institutional participants.
Separately, Tron Inc., trading on Nasdaq under the ticker TRON, announced a fresh acquisition of TRX tokens.
The company wrote that it “acquired 145,199 TRX tokens today at an average price of $0.3444, further increasing its TRX treasury holdings to more than 711.5 million TRX in total,” adding that it aims to grow its holdings “to enhance long-term shareholder value.”
