In mid-2025, Verizon committed to a 3-year price lock on its myPlan plans as a way to help folks lock-in pricing on their wireless plan as everything in the world was becoming more expensive by the day. They’ve since found ways to increase prices through fees, as we expected them to, but the price lock on the plan itself was there from the moment you signed up for it.
Back in June, on the day that Verizon introduced its new Simplicity Plan, they actually ended their 3-year price lock on myPlan plans. It was a quiet change that went mostly unnoticed. Verizon said nothing about it, which isn’t surprising, but they did wipe all mentions of it from myPlan.
We reached out to Verizon to confirm that the myPlan 3-year price lock guarantee was indeed gone, but haven’t heard back. However, their fancy little AI support assistant has made it very clear that it went away on June 16, 2026, the day that Simplicity arrived.
Here’s what it said to us:
- Enrolled before June 16, 2026: Customers who switched to or enrolled in a myPlan option prior to June 16, 2026, keep their 3-year price lock guarantee. Verizon continues to maintain that price lock on the base monthly rate for core talk, text, and data for the full 3-year duration from enrollment.
- Enrolled on or after June 16, 2026: New myPlan activations or line changes starting June 16, 2026, no longer include the 3-year price lock guarantee.
In short, Verizon’s 3-year price lock guarantee made it just over a year before they killed off the idea. Of course, if you enrolled in myPlan before June 16, you have your price locked down. For anyone who signs up after, if you read anywhere that myPlan comes with a price lock still, that would be incorrect. You should prepare for your price to be adjusted whenever Verizon feels like it.
