There’s nothing like a classic Christmas commercial, and Walmart has a special one in store for the 2026 holiday season. The Muppets and Walton Goggins’ Ebenezer Scrooge are sharing the stage in the new “A Who Knew Carol” holiday campaign. This new campaign, of course, reboots The Muppet Christmas Carol with Goggins and the crew.
Walton Goggins portrays Ebenezer Scrooge as he visits the Ghost of Christmas Present, Deals, and Fast. An ensemble of Muppets will help Goggins’ Scrooge get into the holiday spirit as they showcase the holiday gifts Walmart has to offer throughout this campaign. The gifts range from espresso makers, the latest tech, Disney toys, and more! All of your favorite Muppets will also be in the holiday commercials: Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, The Great Gonzo, Rizzo the Rat and Pepé the King Prawn (even though he wasn’t in the original! It’s what the people want!) Oh, and let me not forget Animal before he throws a fit!
The new campaign is inspired by 1992 “The Muppet Christmas Carol,” one of the best holiday movies of all time. We’re sure it’s also inspired by the success of Walton Goggins’ Grinch ads for Walmart last year. A release shares, “In the inaugural spot, Scrooge tours the town with the Ghost of Christmas Presents.” But The Ghost of Christmas Present introducing Walton Goggins’ Scrooge to top Walmart brands is only the beginning. He will also learn about the special offers from the Ghost of Christmas Deals. And to calm Scrooge’s nerves, the Ghost of Christmas Fast will remind him to relax because Walmart Express Delivery can cover last-minute shopping. But don’t worry: while Walton Goggins’ Scrooge leans into the Christmas spirit, he’ll stay true to himself, saying “Bah, Humbug!” all along the way.
Walmart has my heart when it comes to Christmas commercials; my favorite one is the 2024 Busta Rhymes holiday commercial. I was never upset when this commercial interrupted my regularly scheduled programming. And I must say it is a hard one to top. I don’t know if The Muppets and Walton Goggins will be able to match the rhythm and flow of Busta, but it will fill the nostalgia-sized hole in everyone’s hearts.
Don’t be a Scrooge! Get in the holiday spirit even if it is October and enjoy this reimagining of The Muppet Christmas Carol.
