Once you open up your new Pixel 11 or Pixel 11 Pro today and start the setup process, be on the lookout for its first software update. Google is pushing an out-of-box Android 17 update, plus there is a Google Play System Update to grab as well.
Your Pixel 11 series phone will be running the June 5, 2026 Android security patch as build CD1A.260618.001.C2 and will then update to the August 5, 2026 update as build CD1A.260714.001.A9. This is likely just a bug fixer, but you’ll want to get current right away.
As for the Google Play System Update, your phone will have the May update out of the box and will the update to the July build.
How to update your Pixel 11 phone
Updating a Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, or Pixel 11 Pro Fold is an easy process that has not changed in years. It’s the same update process you may have experienced on your old Pixel phone, but there is a step or two difference from Samsung phones.
- Open Settings
- Scroll down to System and tap
- Tap “Software updates”
- From here, tap on “System update” to check for system updates
- Or you can tap “Google Play system update” to check for those
- You’ll want to do both, although both will require separate restarts
