YouTube is expanding its offerings to subscribers with a new partnership. According to an official blogpost from the video giant, eligible YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States will have ad-supported access to Peacock’s premium tier services. This will give viewers access to some pretty sweet content, including NFL and NBA games, Saturday Night Live, Law & Order: SVU, and Love Island USA.
International subscribers will have to stay tuned for bundles and options in the near future. It is never a bad thing to get more bang for your buck. And, from Peacock’s perspective, it helps them to continue to stay competitive with other streaming services like Prime Video, HBO Max, and Netflix in the continued battle for our undivided attention.
Peacock doesn’t have a lot going on in terms of original scripted TV shows right now after Poker Face’s cancellation and Bel-Air’s planned ending. So, they have to turn to the sports loving folks who want to have access to their favorite team’s games. The NBC Sports YouTube does have over five million subscribers, after all.
“This partnership brings NBCUniversal’s world-class content and iconic franchises to YouTube’s unmatched scale and global platforms,” said Mike Cavanagh, Co-CEO of Comcast Corporation. “We’re excited to deepen our relationship with YouTube through a collaboration that reflects our strategy of partnering with industry leaders to drive sustained growth for NBCUniversal.”
This multi-year agreement between YouTube and Peacock (which is under the NBCUniversal umbrella, obviously) will start in early 2027.
