Corsair’s Warthog is the PC case for Halo fans | usagoldmines.com

There are a lot of different ways you can go with a desktop PC build, from disco light show to mini-fridge. One of the less common themes I’ve seen repeated is “military surplus equipment.” That’s the vibe that Corsair is trying to hit with the new Warthog mid-tower case. If the name doesn’t remind you of the Halo battle truck, the color scheme and brutal lines sure will.

Corsair says the Warthog is inspired by the C70 Vengeance, which, yeah, kind of looked like one of the portable radios soldiers would lug around in WWII… but also still looked like a PC. The Warthog dispenses with anything approaching subtlety, looking like it fell off an Imperial Guard supply truck on its way to a doomed battlefield.

While it technically has a window on the side to let you see the guts, the extended steel legs/carry handles and angular cuts draw attention to the case itself, as do red accents on the front and an included “remove before flight” tag, a bit of visual flair borrowed from Wooting. Little metal bollards protect the power, reset, and light buttons on the front. You can get the case in black or olive drab colorways, and with or without fans.

But don’t think this thing is all style and no substance. It’s an airflow-focused case with a wide-open interior space. The only shroud covers the power supply, and there’s an insane variety of fan mounting options and internal cable routing choices. The case supports up to thirteen 120mm fans to make an absolute hurricane of the interior, with three different spots (front, side, back-facing) to stick a 120mm radiator. There’s even an integrated light over the rear I/O panel to help you see your USB ports on a dark gaming night.

If you’re hoping to go the disco route for your next PC build, then you might want to check out Corsair’s newest power supply. The HX1000i Shift Crystal is a fully transparent PSU, showing off the chunky capacitors and line filters. It’s not the first time I’ve seen through a see-through power supply, but it’s the first one in a while, and this one’s packed with features.

In addition to the new PinProtect+ system for those persnickety 12V-2×6 cables that keep frying graphics cards, you get an integrated iCue Link system hub for controlling fans, and the connectors are side-mounted for better routing. The fully ATX 3.1-certified, 1000-watt PSU comes with a ten-year warranty. Oh, and it’s got an RGB 140mm fan. Naturally.

As is typical with Computex announcements, we don’t know when these products are landing, or for how much. But I can’t help but wonder what they’d look like if you installed the Shift Crystal into the Warthog. Like wearing a diamond tennis bracelet to a Tough Mudder run?
