I don’t drink liquor when I look for deals in the morning. But for most of the last year, I’ve wanted to do so. It’s getting really, really hard to find decent prices for what used to be considered mid-range laptops. This touchscreen OLED laptop from Lenovo would have been $800 about a year ago… and today it’s $800 at Best Buy, allegedly $500 off. So I guess that’s what counts as a deal right now.

General lamentations aside, the Yoga 7i is a good laptop. This configuration is rocking a Core Ultra 5 processor, one of Intel’s latest Panther Lake designs, plus 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. But the standout feature is the 14-inch OLED touchscreen, which can fold back on itself in typical 2-in-1 fashion. Ports are plenty too, with double USB-C (on both sides, yes!), USB-A, HDMI, and MicroSD.

Other highlights include both a fingerprint reader and IR camera for Windows Hello functionality, a physical privacy shutter, and an impressive 70 watt-hours of battery life. Combined with Panther Lake’s general efficiency, you should be hard-pressed to drain that battery in a single day. At just a hair over three pounds (1.4 kilograms), it won’t weigh you down in a bag or a carry-on.

Best Buy has this labelled as a “top deal,” so it may not last very long, especially with a lot of folks hunting for back-to-school machines at the moment. But at least some retail locations should have a Yoga 7i on display, so if you live near a brick-and-mortar store, you can try before you buy.
