Joining Ilya Rozanov, played by Connor Storrie, and Shane Hollander, played by Hudson Williams, AND Scott Hunter, played by François Arnaud, and Kip Grady, played by Robbie Graham-Kuntz, are two new steamy lover boys. Yes, Heated Rivalry has officially cast their Troy and Harris. Justice Smith will play Harris Drover and Charlie Gillespie will play Troy Barrett. And yes. They will be locking lips. Can we get three cheers for Heated Rivalry?
So who are Heated Rivalry season two’s Harris and Troy? Well, Justice Smith’s character Harris Drover is a professional hockey player who is traded to the Ottawa Centaurs, a team that Hudson’s Shane is also destined for. Meanwhile, Charlie Gillespie will play Troy Barrett is the social media manager for the hockey team. Listen, there are many ways to fall in gay love around hockey!
Harris and Troy’s romance is at the core of Rachel Reid’s novel Role Model, the book in the Game Changers series, which Heated Rivalry is based on. Showrunner Jacob Tierney and executive producer Brendan Brady share the following in a release about season two.
“Rachel Reid has given us two beautifully layered characters in Harris and Troy who you can’t help but root for. From the start of the casting process, we knew we were looking for actors who could create something truly special together and bring that same depth and heart to the screen. Justice and Charlie do exactly that. They immediately connected with the vulnerability and resilience at the core of these characters, bringing an instinctive understanding of who Harris and Troy are.”
Heated Rivalry season two will adapt Reid’s sixth novel in the series, The Long Game. It will continue to tell Shane and Ilya’s love story. But Role Model actually takes place concurrently with The Long Game. So, Heated Rivalry season two will feature material from that book as well, along with the story of Harris and Troy.
