This is exactly as terrifying as it sounds. Eyes Never Wake is an interesting game for horror fans looking for something a little more immersive in the horror gaming space. A monster that lurks in the shadows watches you through your device’s webcam. Eyes Never Wake incorporates physical elements. For example, the monster can spot the player if they don’t move to avoid it. You can check out the trailer for the game below.
The game includes chase sequences, where you must ensure you’re out of sight by ducking under your desk and tilting out of view. The game also uses your face in other ways, breaking the fourth wall and directly involving you in the experience. Sound also matters, as your microphone will be on, and the monster will listen.
“This AI-driven entity will do anything in its power to see your face. Every corner you turn is a chance for it to catch you. Listen closely, stay quiet, and be ready to hide your face at all costs,” said the game’s description.
New game maker Allan Hedlund developed Eyes Never Wake as his first game. When the game was announced on X, many users in the comments showed concerns about privacy with the game’s usage of the webcam and microphone. However, the game’s Steam page specifies that the developer uses the webcam only for in-game purposes and does not collect any images or data.
Hedlund responded to these concerns, saying, “Just know that the game simply uses OpenCV and OpenCV for Unity for face recognition, which uses pre-trained models. Everything runs locally – nothing gets sent to any server or anything like that. And you can always turn the mechanic off at any time.”
The game is not yet available and does not have a known release date. However, it will release on Steam soon.
