Bumble is in advanced talks to go private in a deal worth about $1 billion, Reuters reported on Monday, October 12, 2026. Ithaca Holdings is the prospective buyer. The talks come as Bumble tries to win back users with AI. Neither company has confirmed a deal. Both declined to comment. Still, Bumble shares surged roughly 50% to $3.80 that Monday, their biggest one-day percentage gain on record. A $1 billion price tag for a $14 billion debut Founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd in 2014, Bumble went public in 2021 at a valuation of about $14 billion. Five years later, the proposed price tells a very different story. Paolo Pescatore, an analyst for PP Foresight, said the potential agreement is proof of Bumble’s difficulties, adding that: Going private looks less like a strategic masterstroke and more like an admission that Bumble’s current strategy is failing. The numbers a buyer would inherit Bumble’s Q2 results indicate the reasons for the investors’ concerns. Its revenue declined by 15.2% year-over-year to $210.5 million. The number of paying users also dropped by 16.4% to 3.2 million. Bumble reported a net loss of $127.9 million of which $169.3 million were impairment charges, even though the adjusted EBITDA represented $72.9 million. The slide started earlier. In 2025, the company registered a near 10% drop in revenue that amounted to approximately $966 million, while its paying user base declined by more than 11% to approximately 3.7 million. Bumble Revenue and Paying Users Decline in 2025 and Q2 2026 Industry fatigue, or a Bumble problem Bumble’s competitor, Match Group, appears to be doing better as revenue fell only 1% to $853 million in the second quarter. Meanwhile, net income increased by 36% to $171 million. Tinder also showed signs of improvement. Daily active users dropped by only 4% year-on-year, which was the smallest decline in the last 10 quarters. Hinge’s revenue has increased by 22%. Match aims to bring Hinge’s annual revenue to $1 billion by 2027. Dating-app fatigue remains a challenge. But Match’s results suggest Bumble’s issues range beyond just the users getting bored with swiping. Bumble vs Match Group Q2 2026: Revenue, Profit and User Trends Can AI pull users back, or push them away Bumble hopes its AI-led Bumble 2.0 can change that. The redesign brings richer, chapter-style profiles and the possibility of swipe-free dating. Its March unveiling helped send shares up more than 40%. Wolfe Herd had earlier floated AI dating concierges, as Cryptopolitan reported. Whether users want that help is less clear. A peer-reviewed study suggests confidence in algorithms can encourage AI dating adoption. Yet an SSRN working paper reported 54% fewer usage minutes and 62% fewer app openings among the AI adopters studied. Those findings do not represent all daters. At the same time, less expensive AI will make companion chatbots more attractive than dating apps. However, the use of these chatbots raises privacy and security issues, as noted by the Congressional Research Service. The opportunity remains substantial: Grand View Research estimates a $10.7 billion global dating-app market in 2026, reaching $17.9 billion by 2033. Omron buys OnLogic for $675M in physical AI push Micah Abiodun | usagoldmines.com

The Japanese factory automation company Omron has made a strategic acquisition by purchasing OnLogic, a manufacturer of industrial computers in the US, and its parent company Interlogic for $675 million.

The transaction will help expand the company’s stake in physical AI characterized by machines taking real-time decisions right on the factory floor. The announcement of the acquisition was made by Omron on October 12 and the closing of the transaction is expected to take place by January 2027.

Cash, a January close, and a brand left intact

Omron (TYO: 6645) signed the agreement on October 10, Japan time. The $675 million valuation assumes no debt or cash, equivalent to roughly ¥104.6 billion.

The cash-funded transaction uses a reverse triangular merger, making Interlogic a wholly owned subsidiary. It also consolidates the founders’ and 167 employee shareholders’ interests.

OnLogic will retain its brand, management and CEO Sean Larkin. Houlihan Lokey advises Omron, while Evercore advises OnLogic.

Omron expects minimal earnings impact for the fiscal year ending March 2027. Its shares were nearly flat despite a 2.2% Nikkei decline, Reuters reported.

Why rugged PCs on the line matter

OnLogic, established in 2003, specializes in developing industrial computers that can be customized to meet specific needs. The company employs 301 people and has its operations across seven locations that include two manufacturing sites. In 2025, OnLogic managed to realize $154.2 million in sales, which resulted in an EBITDA of $22.6 million in the same year.

Omron wants to pair these computers with its sensors, robots and control systems, allowing AI to process information right where the machines operate.

For factories, that could mean spotting defects sooner, catching equipment problems before they cause breakdowns and helping robots respond faster. With less need to send data back and forth to the cloud, production lines could run more smoothly.

An AI strategy Omron was already building

The acquisition builds on existing work. In July, Omron integrated Nvidia Omniverse and Metropolis with its VT-X inspection technology for circuit-board analysis.

Nvidia is not involved in the acquisition.

Omron Robotics was also in collaboration with Italy’s Comau in May. On the other hand, Japanese companies such as FANUC and Kawasaki are investigating Nvidia-enabled physical AI.

Omron’s thinking is somewhat different as it has the goal of owning the industrial computing hardware.

Big forecasts, slow deployments

According to Juniper Research forecasts, spending on physical AI software is estimated to jump up 575% from a sum of $1.3 billion in 2026, to a sum of $8.9 billion in the year 2030. The number of deployments would reach a total of 400,000.

ABI Research, on its part, says that the revenues from edge AI chipsets will grow from $34.4 billion in 2026 to $96 billion in 2031. These forecasts measure different markets.

Nevertheless, the adoption of the technology is still difficult. A survey conducted by TCS shows that 68% of manufacturers out of 300 still remain either on the experimental stage or have not implemented the technology at all.

Physical AI Market Forecasts 2026–2031: Juniper, ABI Research and TCS Data

Roland Berger estimates physical AI could improve operating margins by 0.5–3 percentage points. Labor shortages add urgency, with skilled industrial workforces projected to shrink 16% in Germany and 24% in China by 2050.

Roland Berger principal Jonas Zinn cautioned:

“Physical AI turns data into action. The challenge is connecting the right use cases and operating model.”

For Omron, the challenge is turning promising technology into reliable, profitable factory deployments.

TLDR

Omron agreed to acquire US industrial-PC maker OnLogic and its parent Interlogic for $675 million, aiming to combine OnLogic’s rugged edge computers with its own sensors and controls to build AI that runs on the factory floor. The deal, expected to close around January 2027, matters to chipmakers, industrial suppliers and manufacturers because it signals real money shifting from cloud AI toward edge systems, even as surveys show most manufacturers are still stuck in pilots.
