The big September Pixel update you’ve been checking for is finally here, and yes, it is the September Pixel Drop as well. It does arrive a bit light in terms of new features, but we also should keep in mind that we got a big Android 17 update in June and this is mostly a bug fixer for that. That said, there really are only 2 noteworthy items for the Pixel Drops.
The update is rolling out now and we have a lengthy bug fix list for you. Be sure to grab it and get your Pixel phone up to the latest software.
Harry Potter Pixel Themes Pack
The first of the two new items is a new Pixel Themes pack based off of Harry Potter. This new pack has at least 3 variations, which should include icons, audio, and more. You can see the three themes in an image below.
As a part of this collaboration, Pixel owners also get a free 2-month subscription to Audible to listen to “Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions” that are now available. These are available to use until December 31, 2026.
To set a Pixel Themes Pack on your phone, you’ll long-press on your home screen, choose “Wallpaper & style,” tap “Theme pack,” and then look for the new Harry Potter options.

Pixel VIPs get updated home screen widgets
The Pixel VIPs feature is getting a newly designed and expanded widget set. You’ll now find quick actions to call or text favorite contacts in it, plus new glanceable notification badges. Also, a new “sleek floating overlay navigation menu” sits at the bottom of the screen to let you easily swipe between profiles.
Once we get a look at this new widget and experiences, we’ll update this post.
Scam Detection expansions

While not new, Google also announced as a part of this Pixel Drop that Scam Detection in Messages is expanding to more countries and languages. You’ll find access in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and France. The list of supported languages now includes English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Arabic, French, and Japanese.
Finally, Scam Detection in-app is expanding to help you detect possible scam messages from within Gboard. This is only available in the US, but has a list of supported languages: English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Arabic, French, Indonesian
Bahasa, Japanese, and Korean.
Pause Point expands to more devices
Pause Point, which we just wrote up as an exclusive Pixel 11 series feature, surprisingly expanded this morning to almost every single Pixel device that is still supported, including the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
Pause Point is a Digital Wellbeing feature that lets you set pauses in front of apps you open too often or feel like you could use a break from.
Pixel Watch Feature Drop
For those of you who own a Pixel Watch, we also have a couple of items to share for this September Pixel Drop.
Google is bringing updates and improvements to the raise to talk gesture model on the Pixel Watch 4 and newer, while one-handed gestures have expanded to the Pixel Watch 3 and newer.
