Mortal Kombat II is coming to theaters pretty soon on May 15. We’ve gotten quite a few teasers and trailers showing us Karl Urban taking on the role as the iconic Johnny Cage. There will be a no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn. And that’s for good reason. There’s a threat to the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders. Warner Bros. brought the battle straight to CinemaCon 2026 with footage of Johnny Cage in a fight with Baraka.
In the clip, Liu Kang challenges the very toothy Baraka, who decides to not fight him. Karl Urban’s character Johnny Cage starts talking trash, which causes to Baraka to accept a fighting challenge. But he doesn’t want to fight Liu. He wants to fight Johnny instead because he finds him annoying and wishes to kill him. Johnny says that he can’t fight because he’s just an actor but Sonya and Jax say he has to do it, even though he will probably die. Johnny actually does pretty good at evading injuries from Baraka and asks for a weapon, which he doesn’t get. Baraka tosses arm blade spikes at him, but Johnny goes into Baraka’s hut house and hides, a plan that immediately fails when kids reveal his location.
Johnny gets tossed through the top of the hut and lands on the ground. He’s told to get up by Sonya, and he puts on his shades and decides to act, and actually puts up a good fight. They have a comedic windmill off and Johnny takes him out with a shot to the crotch.
How will it all end? We will just have to wait and see when Mortal Kombat II hits theaters next month.
