UNSOLVED MYSTERIES Returns as a YouTube Podcast Eric Diaz | usagoldmines.com

Before spooky podcasts were all the rage, or the term “creepypasta” was coined, folks with a taste for the unexplained and true crime were hooked on the TV series Unsolved Mysteries. Running for over 500 episodes on various networks from 1987 to 2010, Unsolved Mysteries‘ theme song still gives several generations all the creepy feels. Now we’ve learned (via Deadline) that Unsolved Mysteries is coming back yet again as a podcast on YouTube, made in conjunction with Audacy. Jordan Murphy, formerly of NBC’s Tool Academy, will serve as the new Unsolved Mysteries host.

The new version of Unsolved Mysteries launches on YouTube on October 29, just in time for Halloween. In a statement, Unsolved Media’s Terry Dunn Meurer had this to say about the show’s return in a new format:

We’re thrilled to be expanding the Unsolved Mysteries brand in this pivot to the video podcast world. There are still so many mysteries that need to be solved and we know we can reach a wide audience on YouTube and through Audacy’s distribution. And we hope our audience can help solve these mysteries, as they have for decades.

Following the October 29 premiere, new episodes of Unsolved Mysteries will drop on YouTube every Thursday. This is hardly the first comeback for the brand. Netflix actually brought back Unsolved Mysteries as a series after a long hiatus in 2020. And it made for addictive binge-watching material during the height of the pandemic. But like many shows on Netflix, it only lasted a handful of seasons. There was also an audio podcast version, which ran for 80 episodes.

Nerdist’s Take: As Long as It’s Got that Great Theme Song, Unsolved Mysteries Is an Unbreakable Brand and Concept

Among the new mysteries in this new iteration are the disappearance of Amelia Earhart (an oldie but a goodie), the vanishing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, and the unsolved heist at the Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Hopefully, we get some good UFO episodes in there. Is it really even Unsolved Mysteries without a proper UFO sighting episode? Hey, as long as they keep that theme music, we’re always on board for more.
